About St Mark’s

St Mark’s is a welcoming Anglican parish church serving Woolston. Our aim is to be a safe place where all are valued, and to use our gifts to serve the community.

A brief history

Consecrated on 17 November 1863 and designed by William White, St Mark’s was built with Swanage and Bath stone on land gifted by the Chamberlayne family. The parish added gas lighting in the 1870s, founded an infants’ school in 1872, installed the organ in 1886, and opened Victoria Hall in 1889 (rebuilt after wartime damage). Today we continue to serve Woolston with worship, fellowship and community activities.
